I have tried manually moving the cartridge, as suggested, nothing works to get rid of the error. How did you remove the rubber wiper? The error on the LCD of the printer is 6A00.

This is very strange since the printhead is exactly that supplied with the mp800 when it was purchased new. The decision was an easy one however as Best Buy had a $100 Canon MX700 web special. It was on the right side and visible/accessible when I'd moved the print head to the left and shone a light down into the right-side of the guts of the thing. I have had such great success with this printer that I would look for a newer model of this printer whenever I need to replace this one. This mechanism seemed to be stuck at its full extention rather than being back at home base. I can't return it to store in California from Alabama.
