To launch the connection everytime simply find the PdaNet icon on your Treo and tap on it (with HotSync cable connected, of course). I am getting error #773 or #884 on the Treo: "make sure the USB cable is connected and PdaNet Desktop is running". Yes, I just checked PDANet on my MBP, and it is dead as well (iTunes 10.5 installed earlier today, and PDANet was working as recently as last week).
