Php Fatal Error Call To Undefined Function User_load

I really don't see what the issue with committing this is, the issue has been open for a long time, and people are still experiencing the (critical) problem. Any ideas what the cause of this problem is, and/or how to debug this? I made the changes... I re-uploaded it so the maintainer will not have to search the entire issue. have a peek at these guys

Situation: For troubleshooting I switched off all non-core modules with drush. (not the best solution, I know ;-) ). Or just note as a known issue and postpone? I enjoyed the author's "Drupal 6 JavaScript and jQuery" book very much as well.
