Pkgadd Error 120011-14
Version of package SUNWcar from directory SUNWcar.us in patch 119042-11 differs from the package installed on the system. Here's what I'm trying to do:I'm trying to install this patch (first): 120011-14This will install additional functionality, (not just upgrade existing patches) to the Solaris 10 box so that I can However, it gives a failure message for installation in the non-global zones because user nobody can't read the zone roots (due to the required 700 permissions on those directories). As long as all non-global zones are halted (and don't have ZFS roots), the patch installs all right in the global zone. http://setiweb.org/pkgadd-error/pkgadd-error-2.php

Hi Philip what is the premissions on the directory structure containing the patch being added? 775. Some SA's do not particularly like live upgrade, I have been using it since it was in alpha and beta testing many many years ago. https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23728465/Solaris-pkgadd-reported-patches-already-installed-during-installation-but-var-sadm-patch-does-not-have-the-patch.html
Gruß Heinz Posted by Heinz Müller on December 19, 2008 at 06:10 AM CET # Ich kann die beiden letzten Kommentare nur bestätigen. This installation will attempt to overwrite this package. Auch die Clusterbeiträge von Dir sind großartig! I'm stuck now.Is there a way, if I can find a friend with a paid Sun Service Plan, that he/she can download the Update 4 for me and give to me
Thank you for the great work and I'll be waiting for your responses. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This appears to be an attempt to install the same architecture and version of a package which is already installed. You stated:" As your posting shows, it is looking for a required patch that is not installed on the server. "However, that's not the case here.
c) Install nxge patch for bundled nxge package 127741-01 # patchadd 127741-01 d) Install patch 120011-14 on Solaris 10 11/06 Update3 Note: The patch 120011-14 requires a lot of other patches. So, in any case, take a deep breath and go slow and carefully. Several logs were created and the common error message is that "Patch 119254-73 failed to install due to a failure produced by pkgadd" Another error message was: "This appears to be hmm, need to test this locally to see what is up, suspect that the code in patchadd that mounts things up for installing the 120011 patch is getting confused somewhere.
Additional package operations are not permitted until the system is rebooted. I'll have to do some research on how to create an install image. Approved patches will be installed in this order: 119042-11 Checking installed patches... Also, with NGZs on VxFS using Live Upgrade: IDR128510-01 with T121430-18 worked great, waiting on production release dates.

can you boot and halt the zone prior to running patchadd Yes--that's how I did it. I can't run the patch with the zones >>>>>>> already started because the kernel patch requires them to be >>>>>>> halted (for deferred activation patching).
I'm hoping that the small zones are inheriting the patches anyhow, but I don't know what to do with the big zones. On the failing servers, the zone roots are not mounted on their own partitions; they are simply part of the /usr/local partition. Changes for package SUNWfruip will not be applied to the system."However, that patch is on my system. If you do insist on patchadding the kernel patch by itself, do not use the '-d' option, this will make it so you can not revert out of it if there
You can compare it. If I try to give nobody read >>> access to those directories, the patch fails anyhow because it can't >>> boot the non-global zone (it fails on the 700 perms check). What we currently have is the 11/09 from 2009.So this shouldn't be a problem as is states 11/06 or higher. The issue is within the software package which we downloaded twice and my review here can you boot and halt the zone prior to running patchadd Enda -Philip Enda O'Connor wrote: Philip wrote: I've run into difficulty installing sparc kernel patch 120011-14 from the Oct/03/07 recommended

I'm hoping that the small zones are inheriting the patches anyhow, but I don't know what to do with the big zones. I will have a look at the space checking in /var/run, so I just need to know did the patchadd fail ( leading to corruption ) or did it just issue I then ran the 10_Recommeneded update and it failed on the next patch install (7 of 191).
