And is that any different from a "recent Kernel Jumbo Patch"? (It seems it is from what you say.) Would a "latest recommended bundle" include kernel patches? I haven't tried this, but the pkgadd -s option claims to unpack packages to /var/spool/pkg, and pkgadd without -d looks for packages in that directory.
